How essential oils can help boost your fitness!

When I first was introduced to essential oils, I had done a massive leg day and my right knee was a little bummed after some heavy squats and some lunges. My sponsor offered my some Deep Blue® Rub and within minutes, the pain faded! I could see immediately how fitness and essential oils could mesh seamlessly, and it does!

Here’s what I found essential oils helps with during your fitness sessions:


Essential oils can help warm up the muscles. If you’re young and sprightly, this may not be such an issue but I take ages to warm up nowadays, and sometimes I am pressed for time. Warming oils may be able to hasten your warmup and also a rub during rest periods may help the muscle to stay warm. Oils that may have a warming effect for you include:

  • Black Pepper
  • Cassia
  • Cinnamon Bark
  • Clove
  • Frankincense
  • Wintergreen


These types of oils are more useful during your cool down or recovery periods and is meant to help soothe soreness and provide muscle support. Oils that fall under this category include:

  • Basil
  • Cardamon
  • Peppermint
  • dōTERRA’s Deep Blue® blend


This is to perk you up and help you get going! I admit, sometimes after waking up at 5 am, doing several sessions of work, then wanting to workout, I have absolutely no wish to do anything but to go home and sleep. I heard that sometimes when energy is lagging, some bodybuilders even use ammonia to ‘perk’ themselves up!

But it’s better to pull out some Peppermint oil or dōTERRA’s Motivate® blend to get you going! Other oils that fall under this category include:

  • Generally, citrus oils
