Flying high.

Recently, I had the opportunity to practice Fly Yoga @ Aravind Yoga in Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas. Chris, one of the co-owners, is a friend and is an awesome yoga teacher. Firstly, these hammocks look deceptively comfortable. They are not! They are really fitness tools and I guess if enough of your mind is focused on what you are doing, tools of yoga, much like Iyengar’s ropes etc.

Beginning with some ‘gentle’ stretches (not for people with tight lats!), we began with some standing poses, like the Fly Yoga versions of Warrior 1, Parsvottanasana etc. Then we began some mat work, and then into the backbends. I must admit, it takes some strength to haul oneself up and into the hammock, sometimes doubling up the hammock to get higher.

Of all, I loved the Natarajasana variations, quite difficult to hold that pose. Likewise the Eka Pada Rajakapotasana. I will definitely be back!
