Thrive: Working on a cloud

An editor of an established newspaper, newly revamped, called me up recently, offering me a full-time job. I mulled silently on the phone line, as the editor waited patiently. She finally said, “You know, you don’t have to come in at all, except maybe now and then. I know you’ll hit your deadlines on time. Most of our full time staff is not in the office anyway. They work from home, just like me.”

“Interesting,” I thought. But more interesting was how this newspaper, established in 1896, was going beyond the brick and mortar. While our country balances on the verge of a recession (or already is in recession, depending on who you speak to), more and more businesses are thinking of ways to cut cost.
