My most recent commentary on the haze in the Sun newspaper. I seem to be writing about the haze on an annual basis!
A friend noted the other day, “Just like computers and Facebook, some don’t know a life without the smog*. For them, it has always been there.”
That is a shame. I remember when there was no smog. What did Indonesia and our country (let’s face it, our plantation companies and farmers also clear vegetation by burning them) do before 1997? How come there was no smog then?

What do you think about Southeast Asia’s haze situation?
Note: “haze” was changed in editing to “smog” throughout most of the piece.
