I have been busy, as most of us are. Anyway, here is the latest from me in the Sun on responsible businesses.
LATE one night, my Google reader had an interesting piece on how some hotel workers were protesting against their employer’s move to outsource the stewarding department and to hire foreign workers to replace locals. To add salt to the wound, the report stated that the protesters were unionised workers.
The next day I was talking to a business professional on corporate social responsibility (CSR). Interestingly, he mentioned that there were some very good CSR initiatives in Kuala Lumpur. Then he mentioned a hotel which had a great plant-a-tree initiative – the very same hotel which apparently had the unionised workers picketing for three days.
